Jafar Panahi is a well known Iranian film director who was banned from making movies by the Iranian government. An ex Iranian army person he has also been arrested and questioned for showing the reality on ground of the Islamic Republic. So in 2015 he dressed up as a taxi driver and roamed around the city of Tehran filming his passengers and thus created Taxi Tehran. In a day's ride he meets a person who advocates Shariati law, a teacher who doesn't, a pirated DVD seller, an accident victim and his wife, two very superstitious women whose lives hang by the hook of a fish, the director's over enthusiastic cute niece who herself in a way makes half the movie and finally a woman who distributes roses (an ex lawyer who now fights for human rights). A hard hitting movie that shows how the Irani government"s horrible human rights violation is all pervasive but yet people smile and still think about each other and want to help each other.
